My art depicts a setting of the Negev Desert in Israel. Two hikers are seen overlooking a sunrise just beyond the mountains in front of them. I used a collage of magazine cut outs in this piece to highlight the wide variety of textures and tones exhibited in a natural desert setting.

My art portrays two hikers continuing their hike through the Negev Desert in the middle of the day. The green articles of clothing on the hikers emphasize their presence and signify an individual connection with the setting along with an appreciation for the surrounding nature.

This artwork displays a range of mountains in the Negev Desert in the middle of the night. No hikers are present and the consistent use of darker tones represent a sense of peace and tranquility which carry throughout the setting.

This artwork is an observational piece based on a photograph I took in a canyon in the Negev Desert. Watercolor was used in this piece because I was able to manipulate the water into creating different tones and shades which developed layers of texture. Due to the lack of precise shape of the rocks, texture and values became pivotal factors in navigating the piece.

Despite being raised Jewish, coming from a mixed family, there are many different sides to my heritage which I identify with. In the center of the piece, a large blue and white triangle represents my Jewish side while the other colors symbolize the many other parts of my identity. Each piece is a triangle as the Star of David consists of many triangles, tying everything together.

This piece portrays my brother holding the Torah during his Bar Mitzvah, surrounded by my personal Star of David necklace. Additionally, a part of the Torah portion which I read during my Bar Mitzvah is used as the background. All of these elements emphasize the importance of family and creates bridges between my brother and I.
